Being a teacher and a mother

Broadly speaking, being a teacher and a mother is very greatfull, but it is not so easy.As a teacher we usually have to prepare our classes or mark some homework at home. Also as a mother we have to take care of our children, sometimes do some housework, prepare the meals, pay some bills, take care of the pets and so on...In addition we always have to help the children with their homework.Actually it´s difficult to harmonize our profession and family. Not only because these materials suplly but because of giving support to our children grow up with love and peace.Sometimes we have lots of things to do and our little child gets sick. God, it´s so difficult! Going to work, attend our students with love when we know that our child is at home, ill, wanting us...Besides that being a teacher and a mother sometimes implies a large responsability, great perseverance and sometimes renunciation, I believe that being a teacher is almost so gratefull as being a mother. And more grateful is when we are both a mother and a teacher!

Why did I become a teacher

When I was younger I studied “magistério” in my high school. And as English was my favourite subject at school, I decided to study Languages at University. Broadly speaking, before graduating in Languages I started a job as a secretary, and I loved this job. I worked there from 1993 to 2005. Nevertheless, after more than 10 years working as a secretary, I decided to change my profession because I was pregnant of my second baby. In addition I was looking for a part time job in order to spend more time with my children. Then I took the exams to be a state school teacher and I got the job. As a result, two years ago, I began teaching English in a Public school in Londrina, and I´ve been there till now. At the begining I was afraid and insecure. However nowadays I´m participating in a Project of Uiversidade Estadual de Londrina and I fell myself more confident in my classes.I realy love teaching!
